A Historic Moment for Cameroon!

On behalf of the President of the Republic, Head of State, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion NGUTE, officially inaugurated the Bipindi–Grand Zambi iron ore mining project, operated by G-Stone Resources, on 22 September 2025.

From an economic perspective, the deposit is valued at USD 33.3 billion (thirty-three billion, three hundred million dollars) at current prices. With an annual production target of 6 million tonnes of iron concentrate, as planned during the project’s start-up phase, the mine’s projected lifespan is 56 years. Benefits for the State are estimated at around 10% of turnover, in addition to statutory taxes after the recovery of investment costs, as well as 10% dividends from the State’s free equity share.

Currently, the company employs over 500 people and plans to increase its workforce to 5,000 direct jobs by 2027, along with generating thousands of indirect jobs.

The ceremony, attended by the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (MINMIDT), the Minister of State and Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Jacques Fame NDONGO, an eminent figure from the South, together with several other members of Government and local authorities, concluded at 12:30 p.m.

It is worth noting that the operation of the Bipindi–Grand Zambi iron deposit by the Cameroonian company G-Stone Resources marks a concrete realisation of the Head of State’s vision, as articulated in his 31 December 2022 address to the nation, where he calls for the launch of major mining projects in Cameroon.
