Casino launches the first African experience of Cash & Carry in Cameroon, through a new brand called “Bao”

On March 28, 2018 in the industrial zone of Douala, the economic capital of the country, the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development Ernest GBWABOUBOU accompanied Luc Magloire MBARGA ATANGANA, Minister of Trade, as part of the opening official store of BAO, the first African experience of Cash & Carry.

Launched by Casino Group, through its 3C Cameroon subsidiary, this modern wholesale and semi-wholesale store, the first in French-speaking Black Africa, will offer “an offer of 3,000 local and imported products, mainly food products, complemented by some non-food references (home accessories, body care, drugstore items, etc.) “, we learned from Laurent Bugeot, CEO of Bao.

According to its promoter, BAO Cash & Carry is aimed at both professionals (restaurants, hotels, processors, small independent traders, …), who seek to make purchases in volume and thus be able to benefit from unbeatable prices; as well as individuals, who are looking for quality products, individually, and at low prices.

As a reminder, the concept Cash & Carry is a technique of wholesale, low price (thanks to a model of exploitation with low costs), and with decreasing prices (according to the volumes of goods bought), having already done its evidence in South America, where the Casino Group is leader.

In case of the success of the first warehouse store in Douala opened this March 28, 2018, the Casino Group intends to invest between 15 and 20 billion CFA francs, for the construction of nine other warehouses stores in cities such as Douala, Yaoundé, Bafoussam, Ngaoundéré etc. With the creation of 150 direct jobs per store.
