Illegal Mining Operations Brought to a Halt in the East Region

The Acting Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development, Prof. FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, arrived in Bertoua this afternoon to oversee the complete dismantling of production units operating on illegal mining sites.

The programme includes enforcement operations in the Lom and Djerem and Kadey divisions, as well as a meeting on the procedures for granting strictly defined artisanal mining permits.

This enforcement mission, conducted with the support of the Secretariat of State for Defence in charge of the National Gendarmerie (SED), will focus on dismantling mineralized gravel processing units and seizing production equipment used by illegal operators. This mission will run from 26 to 29 April 2026.
