Professor FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, on Friday, 26 June 2026, inaugurated the new Baker Hughes Cameroon facility in Douala

The Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (ai), Professor FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, on Friday, 26 June 2026, inaugurated the new Baker Hughes Cameroon facility in Douala, marking the conclusion of his three-day working visit to the Littoral Region. He was accompanied by the Governor of the Littoral Region, the Second Deputy Mayor of the City of Douala, the Ministry’s Inspector General, the Director of Mines and Industry, as well as administrative, municipal and traditional authorities.

In his address, the Minister stressed that Baker Hughes’ expanded presence comes at a strategic time as Cameroon advances the Yoyo-Yolanda gas project and intensifies petroleum exploration to increase the country’s oil and gas reserves. He emphasized that expanding proven reserves is essential for strengthening national energy security, sustaining industrial growth and safeguarding Cameroon’s long-term energy independence.

With its internationally recognized expertise in drilling technologies, well services, digital solutions and production optimization, Baker Hughes is expected to improve exploration efficiency, support new hydrocarbon discoveries, strengthen local content and facilitate technology transfer and skills development for Cameroonian professionals, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the national oil and gas industry.

The ceremony concluded with a family photograph bringing together Government officials and Baker Hughes executives, followed by a media interview by the Minister. The inauguration successfully brought to a close a ministerial mission dedicated to strengthening industry, revitalizing the hydrocarbon sector and enhancing Cameroon’s attractiveness for strategic investment.
