The Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (ai), Professor FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, chaired the second session of the Task Force responsible for cleaning up Cameroon’s semi-mechanised artisanal mining sector on Thursday, 16 July 2026, at the conference hall of the Ministry of Trade.
Discussions focused on the expected benefits of the ongoing restructuring of Cameroon’s gold sector. During the working session, technical experts delivered a PowerPoint presentation on leaching ponds, including estimates of the quantities of gold that could be recovered.
A joint field mission involving officials from MINMIDT, Customs, the Tax Administration, the Treasury and the Director General of SONAMINES is expected to take place in the coming days.
