three-day working visit to the Littoral Region
Under the leadership of the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (ai), Professor FUH CALISTUS Gentry, a ministerial delegation on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, commenced a three-day working visit to the Littoral Region as part of the Government’s efforts to reorganize and restructure Cameroon’s industrial sector.
The delegation began the mission with a visit to YOUSHENG CEMENT in the Dibamba Industrial Zone. Discussions focused on compliance with regulations governing the establishment of enterprises in Cameroon, adherence to industrial safety standards, the accreditation of engineering and consulting firms, and challenges affecting the development of the country’s industrial base.
During the visit, the Minister reiterated the Government’s key industrial policy priorities, including:
– Strengthening industrial safety;
– Establishing a National Industrial Mapping System;
– Improving Cameroon’s Industrialization Index;
– Promoting the local processing of raw materials; and
– Developing value chains that generate wealth and employment.
He also emphasized the strategic role of industry in driving economic growth, creating local added value, and supporting the implementation of Cameroon’s National Development Strategy 2020–2030 (NDS30).
The delegation subsequently visited METAFRIQUE in the Logbaba Industrial Zone, where they conducted a site tour of the company’s facilities and held a working session with management and local authorities. Discussions focused on the plant’s industrial performance, compliance with regulatory standards, industrial safety, and opportunities to enhance the contribution of local industries to the national economy.
The first day of the mission highlighted the Government’s commitment to accelerating industrialization, strengthening the competitiveness of the industrial sector, and advancing the sustainable structural transformation of the national economy.
The Minister’s working visit will continue on Thursday with enforcement operations targeting non-compliant industrial enterprises, particularly production units involved in the manufacture of whisky packaged in sachets.
