the opening ceremony of the Women in Mining Cameroon Convention (WIMCC 2025), organised by the Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Cameroon (AFEMIC)

Under the patronage of the ministerial department he oversees, the Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Development (a.i.), Prof. FUH CALISTUS GENTRY, presided over the opening ceremony of the Women in Mining Cameroon Convention (WIMCC 2025), organised by the Association of Women in the Mining Sector of Cameroon (AFEMIC).
The theme chosen for this inaugural international conference was: “Industrial Mining Development in Cameroon: The Place of Women.”
In his address, the Minister reaffirmed the various measures undertaken through reforms and innovations to support women in the mining sector, while encouraging them to take a greater interest in mining and seize the opportunities offered by the mining code.
It is worth noting that this international event aims to promote the contribution of women to the development of the mining sector in Africa in general, and in Cameroon in particular.
WIMCC 2025 brought together stakeholders from countries such as Cameroon, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, including associations, entrepreneurs, and international partners, around a series of panel discussions and thematic sessions.
The conference, held in the presence of the Secretary General of MINMIDT, the Director General of SONAMINES, and the Permanent Secretary of the EITI, took place in the conference hall of the Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaoundé. It concluded with a group photo and a tour of the exhibition stands.
