THE CAPACITY BUILDING PROJECT FOR THE MINING SECTOR SCRUTENIZED BY THE WORLD BANK

Mr. Ernest GBWABOUBOU Minister of Mines, Industry and Technological Developement granted audience to a visiting mission of the world bank to Cameroon on Thursday March 1 2018. The Meeting focused on a close examination of the Capacity Building Project for the Mining Sector (PRECASEM).

Discussions between the Minister and the visiting representative of the Operation Manager of the Bank Elisabeth Huybens, heading the routine monitoring mission, centered on key aspects of cooperation namely; ongoing construction projects which are still witnessing the problem of low budgeting, The development of the local mining sector in a bid to ensure the strict respect of the law by operating firms in view of the newly adopted mining code and the high expectation of the decree OF implementing the code as well as Capacity building of newly appointed personnel in technical fields.

Stressing on this last aspect, the Minister mentioned the fact that young and skillful staff has been given the mighty responsability of handling key aspects in Mines, Geology and other technical domains in the Ministry, these missions can only be carried out effectively if they have added skill which will be made possible if the World Bank Mission ensures the continuous trainning of such ones. The audience ended at 10.45 Am on a satisfactory note.
